I'm Shari Bergstein, and I'm eager to engage you/your son/your daughter in the exciting world of math! Cheesy? Yes. But I do believe people shouldn't fear math the way they fear a root canal. I also bring a side of comedy and a personality that will keep you engaged... maybe not quite as effectively as Bridgerton, but pretty darn close. Less drama, though; I promise.

ABOUT ME

With more than 15 years of experience in data and statistics — including building a new data analytics division at NASA — I bring both high-level industry expertise and a passion for teaching. I hold a master’s degree in statistics and have over a decade of tutoring experience across all levels, from elementary mathematics through graduate-level coursework and even working professionals.

Students value my ability to break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. My approach focuses on building deep understanding, critical thinking, and confidence — so students don’t just complete assignments, but truly master the material.

 

Although math is my favorite subject, I tutor a wide range of other subjects and skills. I reported for major U.S. newspapers, worked as a writing coach, and edited books for domestic and international audiences. These experiences help me help you.

In my spare time, I love volunteering in animal rescue, and my pups and our foster pups definitely rule my house.

MY VISION

I often hear people complain that math/stats is too difficult or tell me I'm lucky I'm naturally good at math. No matter how smart you are, math requires dedication and patience. Sure, math can come more easily to some than others. But to excel at anything demands hard work.

 

Maybe I'm old school, but in a world of instant gratification, I still believe practice makes perfect; there are no shortcuts. But it CAN be enjoyable! And you CAN master the material...even if you think you're not a math person.

 

I can provide real-world examples that make the lessons relevant. And I recognize the patience required when teaching a new lesson. Humor never hurts either. :)
